PARTICIPATION IN UPAHAAR: NATIONAL SEMINAR ON UPCYCLED FOOD SYSTEMS

        The UPahaar: National Seminar on Upcycled Food Systems—Challenges, Opportunities, and Pathways, held on 11th February 2025 at Dr. TMA Pai Auditorium, Manipal, was a remarkable event aimed at fostering discussions on sustainable food practices. A delegation of 13 students and 3 faculty members from the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, P.A First Grade College, actively engaged in the seminar organized by the Department of Commerce, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). The event brought together academicians, industry experts, entrepreneurs, and researchers to explore innovative solutions for reducing food waste through upcycling. The seminar provided a platform to deliberate on pressing issues concerning food sustainability, emerging business models in the upcycled food sector, and the role of policy interventions in promoting circular food systems.The participation of P.A First Grade College students and faculty in UPahaar was a valuable academic and professional experience, enhancing their awareness of sustainable food practices. Through interactions with researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals, the participants broadened their perspectives on the importance of food waste reduction and innovative reuse strategies. The seminar served as a networking opportunity, encouraging students to explore research and entrepreneurial possibilities in the upcycled food sector. The knowledge gained will be instrumental in shaping their future endeavors, inspiring them to contribute to a more sustainable and resource-efficient food industry.
