PARTICIPATION IN SEMINAR AT KCCI, MANGALURU

On 13 November 2024, four students from the final year BCom and two student volunteers from First year B Com, along with Ms. Chaithra N.V, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Management attended a seminar on "New Amnesty Scheme under GST for the Waiver of Interest and Penalties," organized by the Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Mangaluru. The seminar, held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, provided valuable insights into the recent developments in GST laws, specifically the amnesty scheme introduced to offer relief to taxpayers by waiving interest and penalties for non-compliance under certain conditions. The session covered key topics, including the eligibility criteria for the amnesty scheme, procedural aspects for availing the benefits, and its impact on businesses. Experts from the field of taxation and government officials were present to clarify doubts and provide practical examples of how businesses can benefit from this scheme. Sri Anand G pai, President of KCCI, warmly welcomed the attendees, followed by Sri.Ahamed Mudassar, Vice President of KCCI, who introduced the esteemed Chief Guest and Resource Person. Sri Kumar V, Joint Commissioner of Commercial tax, Dept.of GST, delivered a comprehensive address and he provided a detailed overview of recent amendments, elucidating the rationale behind these changes.A lively interactive session ensued, allowing participants to pose questions and seek clarifications from the Resource Person. Sri Adithya Padmanabha Pai, Honorary Secretary of KCCI, extended his gratitude to the attendees and organizers, bringing the session to a close. The event concluded on a positive note, with participants gaining a deeper understanding of ne Amnesty scheme under GST for waiver of Interest and Penalty. Overall, the seminar was an informative and enriching experience for the students, equipping them with updated knowledge on GST reforms that will aid their academic and professional growth.
