World Nature Day

Oct 3, 2024 - Oct 3, 2024

On the occasion of World Nature Day, the Environmental Cell "Greenaura" organized a highly engaging event, including a documentary competition and screening, on 3 October 2024. The event commenced at 10 AM in Seminar Hall-1, where Mr. Sali Asham, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce and Management, provided an insightful overview of the significance of World Nature Day. In his address, Mr. Sali Asham, highlighted the pressing issue of inhumane practices that are increasingly detrimental to the environment and Mother Earth. He emphasized the urgent need to raise awareness and take collective responsibility to protect nature from further harm. As part of the awareness initiative, a thought-provoking documentary titled “Is Plastic Killing the Earth?” was screened for the students of Greenaura. The documentary delved into the alarming effects of plastic pollution on the environment, showcasing the detrimental impact it has on ecosystems, wildlife, and human health. It served as an eye opener for the students, making them reflect on their own consumption habits and the broader implications of plastic waste. The screening left a lasting impression on the audience. In addition to the documentary screening, a competition was held for showcasing their creativity and understanding of environmental issues. Ms. Liyana Mariyam from 1st year B.Sc (FND) bagged the first prize in the competition. Ms. Gopika, Ms. Azweena, and Ms. Saniya Assistant Professors were present during the programme. A total of around 70 students attended the program, demonstrating their enthusiasm and commitment to environmental issues. Overall, the event not only enhanced the students' knowledge about the critical environmental challenges of our time but also inspired them to take action toward creating a more sustainable future.
