The NAAC Reforms 2024 - Regional Consultative Workshop for the Southern Region took place on 16 July 2024 at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. This significant event aimed to create awareness about the new Binary Accreditation system for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs). Organized by the Executive Committee of NAAC, the workshop sought feedback on the proposed reform, concentrating on eligibility, weightage, and the rules of metrics and measurements. The event began with a prayer and the welcoming of guests, followed by three key technical sessions. In the first session, Prof. Ganesan Kannabiran, Director of NAAC, provided an overview of the Binary Accreditation Framework, discussing its weightage and eligibility criteria. The second session featured Dr. Devender Kawday, Advisor at NAAC, who delved into the specific rules of metrics and measurements that universities, autonomous colleges, and affiliated colleges should follow. The third session included a panel discussion that highlighted the importance and benefits of binary accreditation, followed by an Open Forum where participants had the opportunity to interact with NAAC delegates and address their queries. The workshop concluded with reflections on the key takeaways from the sessions. Among the attendees were IQAC Coordinators Ms. Vanishree Y from PAFGC and Ms. Rajisha from PA College of Pharmacy, who gained valuable insights into the new binary accreditation system.
